PrevenTest
Comprehensive Hereditary Cancer Testing
PrevenTest
PrevenTest is a non-invasive test performed by collecting a simple mouthwash sample. PrevenTest is comprised of 36 genes that are associated with increased risk for 8+ cancers.
Genetic knowledge has a variety of benefits. These results aren't "just to know" and they are not intended only for the individual being tested. A result indicating increased cancer risk may inform the patient's family members, who may be at higher risk as well. With the knowledge of a higher risk of cancer, patients and their physicians can put together a screening plan at a younger age. In more serious cases, the result may indicate a very high risk of cancer in the future. If appropriate, surgical intervention may be suggested to prevent cancer. For In-Vitro-Fertilization (IVF), using Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) to test the embryo can help ensure that a genetic mutation is not passed down to a child.
